World Tourism Remains At a Standstill as 100% of Countries Impose Restrictions on Travel Madrid, Spain, 11 May 2020 – COVID-19 has placed the whole world on lockdown, with new research from the World Tourism Organization showing that 100% of global destinations continue to have restrictions on travel in place, and 72% have completely closed their borders to international tourism. Most UK Tour Operators have suspended holiday departures up to and including June 30th 2020 due to the current Coronavirus pandemic. Information is regularly updated here. The suspension does not necessarily include UK staycation holidays. Air travel has been severely restricted in and out of UK. Wizz Air has started up operations to and from Luton and Budapest. Strict rules apply for the wearing of face masks by crew as well as passengers. Relaxation of the lock-down rules are expected from Monday May 11th. These could include less stringent enforcement of outdoor activities including access to beaches and rambling, as well as golfing and fishing. Social distancing rules to continue and remain in force.
