Very varied landscape, with the Rhine, Bavaria and the Black Forest in West Germany. Eastern Germany is lake-studded, with hills and mountains. Famous for good, wholesome food and local beer. Less well known are the North Sea resort, great on warm summers' days worth discovering and beautiful countryside in the eastern half.
The Capital Berlin is the largest city rich in architecture. The recently renovated German Parliament is a striking building designed by the British Architect Norman Foster.
Main tourist regions: the Bavarian Forest to the east, Franconia to the north, Upper Bavaria and the Alps to the South. The Baltic coast with its resorts is the most popular holiday region.
