The second largest of the Windward Islands, St Lucia is nestled in between Martinique and St Vincent in the chain of Caribbean islands. Mountainous and lush green in appearance This volcanic island is rich in tropical vegetation and incredible scenery. The international airport is situated in the south, about an hour's drive from the capital Castries. Fine white sand, a colourful and relaxed people and rainforests characterize this island. Visit the market in Castries; walk along miles of endless beaches; go horse riding in the forests or along the beach; listen to some Gospel Singing in the Catholic Cathedral; visit the twin extinct peaks of the Pitons. Each island of the Caribbean has its own special features. St Lucia has its rainforests and volcanoes. These dominate the island which many think of as paradise, for its long beaches and varying forms of terrain. Great for scuba diving, sailing, snorkeling, indeed most water sports too!
