The use of video on
the Web is about to take a dramatic upturn. Until recently, available
compression techniques have stood in the way of wider use of video
media on websites.
Not only that, but costs
of compressing video, then hosting video as well as paying for licensed
software, both by the Internet Service Providers [ISPs] and by end
users have made the costs prohibitive for most.
Often the end result
of small, blurred pictures, did not justify all that trouble anyway.
Now two important things
are happening.
Firstly, broadband
is being served up to more PCs, thanks to the big push by BT ond
others to reach a million connections by June 2003 and...
Secondly, the
newly developed FBT software that delivers VHS quality pictures,
to a size of about 320 pixels x 240 pixels to your screen at 40kbps.
That's perfect for a narrowband
conncetion, below the 56K modem speed. So everyone can access good
quality video with basic modem connection.
There is more good news!
This new FBT technology does not require a licensed player by the
ISP, nor a Plug-In on the PC. The streaming video file is brought
to your PC by a java apalette - instantly! It's like turning on
the TV set.
Travel Media Solutionsis
