Where is CYPRUS?

The island of Cyprus is situated in the Eastern Mediterranean and although a part of Europe, is geographically closer to the Middle East. The top third of the island is under Turkish occupation and the remainder is Greek. The capital is Nicosia, in the centre. Other important towns and resorts in Greek Cyprus are Limassol on the South coast and Paphos in the West. The main airport is in Larnaca, about an hour away from Limassol and there is a smaller one in Paphos. The legend of Aphrodite lives on in the South West, at her birthplace, where she emerged from the sea.

What to do in CYPRUS?

The usual beach holiday activities are on offer in all resorts. Paphos is quieter and more sophisticated than Limassol. The Troodos mountains along the West of the island are known for skiing in the winter months, riding and hiking during summer. Also popular are jeep safaris which are easily booked in resort.
